SACRAMENTO – All six elected positions on the state bar’s board of trustees would be eliminated over the next three years under amendments to the annual bar dues bill introduced in the state Assembly on Thursday.

The change would create a 13-member board with five trustees appointed by the state Supreme Court, four by the governor and the remaining four by legislative leaders. Each new appointee would be required to have expertise in public finance, public administration, business or financial management, state government or legal ethics. Attorneys would retain a 7-6 majority on the board.
