During my long career dealing with appeals and writ petitions, I’ve worked with and against many, many lawyers. Here are a few things that cause me to grit my teeth.
I call them “petty”–not “pet”–because they are indeed petty. So they probably won’t affect the outcome of a case. But you never know. You want to put the judge who reads your stuff in a good mood. If these things annoy me, they might annoy the judge too.
