A federal judge has postponed a decision on whether to approve an $84 million class action settlement with Uber Technologies Inc. and demanded that attorneys provide more information about the deal by the middle of next month.

In a 16-page order issued Thursday, U.S. District Judge Edward Chen of the Northern District of California said he still has “insufficient information” to determine whether the settlement is a good deal for drivers in California and Massachusetts.
