SAN FRANCISCO — David Callaway, the chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, plans to leave the office later this month.

Callaway, who has been with the office in various roles since 1998, confirmed that he has offers from a couple of large law firms, but he hasn’t determined which one he will join. His replacement, which will likely come from the office’s supervisor ranks, is expected to be in place by the time he leaves.
