SACRAMENTO — A six-wheeled, ice chest-sized robot zipping autonomously toward some nearby destination with groceries, dry cleaning or somebody’s lunch: The robot invasion of California’s sidewalks might not be that far off.

Starship Technologies OU, a European startup launched in 2014 by two Skype founders, confirmed through a spokesperson Friday that the company is “definitely looking at California both for testing and future operations” of what the company calls a “personal courier.”
