SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge has certified a class of users of the Path mobile application in an invasion of privacy suit against Apple Inc. and Path Inc.
Photo-sharing and messaging app Path was one of many popular smartphone applications—including Twitter, Foursquare and Instagram—targeted with privacy suits in 2013 for allegedly accessing address books of Apple mobile devices. Apple’s terms of service appeared to prohibit that access without proper notice.
