SAN FRANCISCO — Qualcomm Inc. has agreed to pay $19.5 million to resolve claims that it discriminated against women in promotions and pay across its science and technology jobs.
The class action settlement was announced on Tuesday, the same day as employment firm Sanford Heisler formally filed suit against the San Diego-headquartered semiconductor and telecom giant. In addition to financial compensation, the settlement requires Qualcomm to take steps to reduce the pay gap between men and women, and promote more women to senior management roles. The deal is subject to court approval.
