A California judge has tossed some of the claims against the University of California regents in the sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the executive assistant of former Berkeley School of Law dean Sujit Choudhry.
In a tentative decision issued July 28, Alameda County California Superior Court Judge Robert Freedman ruled that plaintiff Tyann Sorrell’s claims of intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault and battery against the regents were barred by a California law that protects public entities from liability for an injury caused by an employee.
