Former Eastern District U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner will join Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Palo Alto office as a partner in September, focusing on white-collar defense and government investigations.

Wagner spent 24 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, the last six of them in the top seat. He co-chaired the Justice Department’s white-collar crime subcommittee and helped force financial industry giants The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. to pay billions in settlements for their role in the economic crisis of 2008. His office also cracked down on mortgage fraud, convicting nearly 300 defendants during Wagner’s tenure.
