SAN FRANCISCO – The California Supreme Court has declined to review a decision finding the state’s teacher tenure laws do not violate the state constitution, cementing a loss for attorneys at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher who argued the laws subject poor and minority students to an inferior education.

The decision to deny the petition for review in Vergara v. State of California split the court’s seven justices, with Justices Goodwin Liu, Ming Chin, and Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar dissenting.
