SAN FRANCISCO — The California state court judge at the center of the Brock Turner sexual assault controversy has been reassigned to handle civil cases, amid continuing calls for him to step down from the bench.
The reassignment of Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky to the court’s civil division was announced in an email Thursday evening. The change becomes effective on Sept. 6, according to the announcement.
