Cisco Systems Inc.’s patent infringement case against rival Arista Networks Inc. is going great guns, with an import ban on infringing Arista products taking effect this week.

But the company’s related copyright claims scheduled to go to trial this fall in San Jose are not faring as well, at least so far. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman rejected Cisco’s motion for summary judgment of copyright infringement, criticizing the company’s legal team for “a shifting sands strategy to summary judgment.”
