SAN FRANCISCO—Creative pleading couldn’t save yet another suit against Yelp Inc. over negative business reviews from being zapped by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

A unanimous Ninth Circuit panel ruled Monday that the Communications Decency Act shields websites that passively disseminate user-generated content just as it offers immunity for the publication in the first instance.
