SAN FRANCISCO — Uber Technologies Inc. is asking a federal judge to slash the fees requested by lawyers representing a class of blind riders who agreed to settle discrimination claims against the ride-hailing company.

Littler Mendelson partner Andrew Spurchise wrote in court papers for Uber filed late Thursday that the request for more than $3 million from plaintiffs attorneys at Disability Rights Advocates, Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld and the TRE Legal Practice should be trimmed to less than $450,000. Plaintiffs attorneys, he wrote, spent excessive time on the case and prepared for trial and discovery battles even when a settlement was imminent.
