What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But a group of left-leaning Bay Area attorneys wants to make sure that what happens there on Nov. 8 doesn’t include voter suppression. For months, the San Francisco chapter of Women Lawyers for Hillary has been training law students and attorneys to monitor and report issues at the polls. On Election Day, many of them will deploy to Nevada, the nearest state where the presidential race is expected to be competitive.

Women Lawyers for Hillary, whose West Coast leaders include a dozen or so San Francisco lawyers, has also organized phone-banking sessions on Hillary Clinton’s behalf. Lawless & Lawless partner Therese Lawless, one of the group’s founding members, took a break from calling voters on a recent evening to field some questions from The Recorder.
