SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge probably won’t put the brakes on an ongoing UC Berkeley disciplinary proceeding against former law school dean Sujit Choudhry that threatens to strip him of tenure.

U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg of the Northern District of California appeared persuaded on Monday by arguments from lawyers for the University of California who said that case law blocks courts from intervening in “quasi-criminal” proceedings akin to the one pending against Choudhry over sexual harassment allegations.
