The California Supreme Court reversed a court of appeal decision. The court held that a felony offender’s successful petition under Proposition 47 to have his offense reclassified as a misdemeanor did not entitle the People to rescind their plea agreement and reinstate previously dismissed charges so as to insulate them from losing the “benefit of their bargain.”
