SAN FRANCISCO — Struggling blood test startup Theranos Inc. on Monday was hit with a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of investors who sank hundreds of millions of dollars to buy shares in the privately held company once valued at $9 billion.

The named plaintiffs in the federal lawsuit are Robert Colman, who The Wall Street Journal has characterized as a Silicon Valley dealmaker, and Hilary Taubman-Dye, a California resident who invested via SharePost, an online service that allows people to buy and sell shares of nonpublic companies.
