SAN FRANCISCO — Social gaming company Zynga Inc. has accused two former employees of stealing company trade secrets and spearheading an effort by a rival game developer to poach employees.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday under the new federal Defend Trade Secrets Act, Zynga’s lawyers at O’Melveny & Myers accuse Massimo Maietti, a former senior-level developer who worked on the company’s FarmVille 2 game, of copying company files as he left his position for Culver City-based Scopely Inc., which is also a defendant in the suit. The suit also targets Ehud Barlach, the former general manager of Zynga’s “Hit It Rich! Slots” game, for allegedly helping Scopely to recruit employees away from Zynga even while he was still employed there.
