An Alameda County court commissioner who faced possible disciplinary action for alleged inappropriate demeanor from the bench resigned from his post on Nov. 30, the state Commission on Judicial Performance said Tuesday in announcing the closure of a misconduct investigation.

The judicial commission in October charged Taylor Culver, an Alameda County Superior Court commissioner since 2005, with “willful misconduct” for, among other things, rude remarks made to litigants and to courtroom staff. He could have faced removal from the bench had the commission found him unfit to serve as a subordinate judicial officer.
