The court of appeals affirmed in part and reversed in part a district court judgment denying a petition for writ of habeas corpus. The court held that the Arizona Supreme Court erred prejudicially in this death penalty case by applying a “causal nexus” test to its consideration of mitigating evidence offered at sentencing.
