SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge has denied an attempt by Uber Technologies Inc. to route Google Inc.’s lawsuit over autonomous vehicle technology into private arbitration.

“Defendants seek to steer this case into arbitration even though they have no agreement with anyone to arbitrate the case,” wrote U.S. District Judge William Alsup of the Northern District of California in an order issued Thursday evening.
