The Second Appellate District reversed a trial court order granting a motion to quash a deposition subpoena. The court held that where a third-party “factor” bought a healthcare provider’s medical lien on a personal injury plaintiff’s recovery, the personal injury defendant could obtain discovery regarding the factor’s contractual relationship with the health care provider, including documents disclosing how much the factor paid for the lien.
