The U.S. Supreme Court vacated a lower court judgment and remanded for further proceedings. The court held that a capital defendant’s trial attorney rendered constitutionally deficient performance where he failed to request additional funding to replace a key expert he knew to be inadequate because he mistakenly believed that he had received all the funding he could get under Alabama law.
