9th Cir.;

The court of appeals reversed a district court judgment and remanded the action for further proceedings. The court held that a district court erred by admitting into evidence an inculpatory statement obtained by police from a juvenile during an interrogation in violation of the juvenile’s Fifth Amendment (I)Miranda(I) rights. The court held further that the district court had jurisdiction over the juvenile’s prosecution even though the government’s defective statutory certification lacked a statement of the government’s substantial federal interest in the case.
