The court of appeals affirmed a district court’s denial of habeas relief. The court held that a state trial court did not violate clearly established federal law by requiring two co-defendants to wear visible leg brace restraints during trial to preserve courtroom security and safety in light of evidence that they had previously planned a thwarted jail escape. The court held further that the state trial court did not violate clearly established federal law by employing dual juries, one each for the two co-defendants, in their murder trial.
