The court of appeals affirmed a district court order certifying a class and a subclass. The court held that the district court did not abuse its discretion in certifying a class of inmates who sought declaratory and injunctive relief regarding the Arizona Department of Corrections’ allegedly unconstitutional statewide policies governing inmate health care policies and practices. The court held further that the district court did not abuse its discretion in similarly certifying a class of inmates who challenged the Arizona Department of Corrections’ statewide isolation unit policies and practices.
