Hyde became the second East Bay judge in six months to be accused of misconduct. In December, the commission initiated “formal proceedings” against Contra Costa County Judge Bruce Van Voorhis. Van Voorhis, whose hearing before a panel of special masters begins Monday, was accused of berating attorneys, court staff and jurors.

And like the Contra Costa judge, Hyde has been rapped by the watchdog agency before — he was censured in 1996 over similar allegations.
