Yew, an Asian American who left the Bar board in November to become a superior court judge, will be replaced by either a Hispanic woman, an African-American man, a guy who’s part Indian and Irish or a fellow who’s a mix of Filipino and Swedish. All four candidates recognize the significance for a profession seeking role models for diversification.
“It’s important,” says candidate Tamara Lopez. “The leadership of the State Bar must reflect the diversity of the legal community in the state.”
