The firm told employees last week that it would instead be offering backup child care for use when schools are closed or regular day care falls through. Several other firms in the Bay Area offer this benefit to their attorneys and staff.
“In this economic environment all expenses are being reviewed,” said Dora Mao, managing partner of the San Francisco office. “To a certain extent we’re all saddened by it. It’s definitely something we’d rather have than not have.”
