Alston & Bird has added two attorneys to its environmental litigation practice. Partner Jeffrey Dintzer and Counsel Matthew Wickersham both joined the Los Angeles office from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Edward Arens has been promoted to partner in Phillips & Cohen's San Francisco office. Arens represents clients under the qui tam, SEC and IRS whistleblower programs.

JAMS has brought on Deborah Ballati as mediator in its San Francisco resolution center. Ballati focuses her practice on construction and insurance coverage disputes in civil and commercial matters.

Blank Rome hired Natalie Alameddine as an associate in the Los Angeles office. Alameddine will join the labor and employment practice and previously worked as a law clerk for the National Labor Relations Board.

Covington & Burling moved its office to the new Salesforce Tower in downtown San Francisco. The firm has leased 79,000 square feet in the tower and will move about 70 attorneys from its current location at One Front Street.

Farella Braun + Martel has promoted Amanda Hairston and Erik Olson to partners in San Francisco. Hairston represents corporate policyholders in insurance coverage disputes and Olson litigates patents and copyright disputes. Both previously were senior associates at the firm.

Fisher & Phillips hired six new associates across various California offices: Nicole Stenoish in San Diego, Bobby Termechi in Los Angeles, and Heather Martone, David Rashé, Lauren Stockunas and Sara Zimmerman in Irvine.

Foley & Mansfield promoted six lawyers in January. Joining the ranks of partnership are Christine Hawkins, Thomas Tarkoff, Lauren Taylor, Arturo Sandoval, Robert Menchini and Duncan Lemmon. All six attorneys are based in the Oakland office.

Former Starwood deputy general counsel Keith Grossman has joined labor and employment firm Hirschfeld Kraemer as partner. Grossman was at Starwood until 2016, when he left to launch a strategic consulting firm in Cuba.

Two associates in the corporate and securities group at Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian have been promoted to partner. Jared Grauer is based in Silicon Valley and had co-founded Course Hero Inc. prior to joining the firm. Mike Heath co-founded the firm's Los Angeles office in 2012.

Dykema has appointed Jeffrey Huron as office managing partner of its Los Angeles office. Huron is part of the firm's business litigation practice group and succeeds Mike Wippler.

Michael Lawhead joins BakerHostetler's health care and life sciences practice as partner. Lawhead previously was at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth and will be based in Costa Mesa.

McGlinchey Stafford promoted Adam Hamburg to member in its Irvine office. Hamburg is part of the firm's commercial litigation team and joined McGlinchey Stafford in 2016.

Miller Starr Regalia has promoted Jana Contreras and Allison Wopschall to shareholder in its Walnut Creek office. Contreras focuses her practice on complex real estate and commercial disputes, and Wopschall focuses her practice on business disputes and contract negotiation. Both joined the firm in 2014 as associates.

JoLynn Pollard was promoted to shareholder at Hunt Ortmann. Based in Pasadena, Pollard will lead the firm's employment and insurance practices.

Jones Day has promoted five attorneys to partner in California: Sarah Conway and Jason Wright in Los Angeles; Mark Earnest in Irvine, Ka-on Li in Silicon Valley; and Kelly O'Donnell in San Diego. Conway, O'Donell and Wright practice business and tort litigation, and Earnest and Li focus their practices on labor and employment and intellectual property, respectively.

Reed Smith promoted three attorneys in its San Francisco office. Appellate attorney Brian Sutherland, complex litigation attorney James Neudecker and finance industry attorney Ashley Shively have been elected to partnership. Neudecker and Shively joined Reed Smith shortly out of law school, whereas Sutherland previously worked at the New York State Attorney General's office. Reed Smith also promoted three other attorneys to partner in California: intellectual property attorney Jason Garcia in Silicon Valley, life sciences and health industry attorney Michelle Lyu Cheng and labor and employment attorney Christina Tellado in Los Angeles.

William Seligman joined McGuireWoods as senior counsel in its global real estate practice. Seligman is based in the Century City office and joined the firm from Cassin & Cassin.

Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek hired associate Philip Adams to join its litigation department in San Diego. Adams previously served as a law clerk in the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego.

Archer Norris promoted Jocelyn Soriano to partner in its Walnut Creek office. Soriano's practice focuses on litigation of mass and complex environmental and toxic tort claims.
