Leigh Day and Harcus Parker have won a legal battle on behalf of 6,000 current and former Tesco employees in their fight for equal pay against the supermarket giant – spelling a significant loss for Herbert Smith Freehills.

The European Court of Justice ruled on Thursday that the roles of shop floor workers at Tesco can be compared to those of their colleagues in distribution centres for the purposes of equal pay.
