High-profile Miami commercial litigator Edward Moss of Shook, Hardy & Bacon died of complications of prostate cancer at his Miami home. He was 78.

Moss was a rarity in the legal profession by representing both plaintiffs and defendants during his long legal career. He served as co-lead counsel representing Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. in class action tobacco cases and in the Dupont Plaza hotel fire case in Puerto Rico.

He also represented Boeing Co. in numerous crashes, Texaco in an environment spill toxic tort case and numerous architectural and construction firms, including Westinghouse in litigation arising from construction of the Miami-Dade Metrorail system.
