The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office recently announced that it has filed a lawsuit against a major rental corporation and its president for allegedly violating lead hazard and consumer protection laws that have placed the health and safety of hundreds of renters at risk.

The complaint was filed June 6 in Bristol County Superior Court against Pioneer Investments and Anurag Sureka, which own and operate more than 175 residential rental units across Rhode Island. The state alleges that Pioneer has ignored lead hazard laws, landlord-tenants laws, and housing code regulations as it has failed to maintain their properties and pose a health risk to their tenants and the public at large.
