Deacons is advising state-owned China Jianyin Investment Ltd. on a $1.8 billion acquisition of Netherlands-based NXP Semiconductors N.V.'s radio-frequency power amplifier business.

China Jianyin, through its subsidiary Jianguang Asset Management Co. Ltd., will buy NXP's RF Power business, which includes all relevant patents and the packaging and assembling operation in the Philippines. An RF power amplifier converts a low power radio-frequency signal into a larger one and is usually used in radar, wireless communication and satellite communication.

The deal follows a series of Chinese investments into the semiconductor industry. In a recent deal, a Chinese consortium, led by domestic venture capital firm Summitview Capital, is offering $640 million to buy Nasdaq-listed semiconductor maker Integrated Silicon Solutions Inc.
