Covington & Burling continued to make inroads in California this week, hiring technology transactions partner Catharina Min from Reed Smith for its corporate practice in Silicon Valley.

Min, a well-regarded M&A lawyer who will now be based out of Covington's office in Redwood Shores, California, was vice chair of Reed Smith's business and finance department and for a time served as managing partner of the firm's office in Palo Alto, California.

Min, who specializes in cross-border technology transactions, also led Reed Smith's Korea practice during her decade at the firm, which she joined Reed Smith in 2007 from what is now Squire Patton Boggs. Her clients have included Samsung Venture Investment Corp. and Hyundai Investment Corp., and Min said the fact that Covington has an office in Seoul was a huge selling point for her. So was the Washington, D.C.-based firm's regulatory and compliance expertise.
