Global In-House Salary Survey Finds U.S. Headcounts Hit, Salaries FlatLast year wasn't lucrative for in-house lawyers in the U.S., but, despite the recession, in-house salaries remained flat in 2009, says a survey by international legal recruiting firm Laurence Simons. For example, average salaries for corporate counsel with four to five years of experience fell slightly to $145,300, down from $147,000 in 2008. But when it came to headcounts, in-house legal departments at U.S. companies took a big hit, cutting more positions than their European counterparts.
