Novell Wins Appellate Round in Open Source Case

The 10th Circuit has backed a lower court finding that Novell, not SCO Group, owns the copyrights to early versions of the Unix computer operating system, capping an eight-year battle that once stoked the fervor of open source advocates. SCO had sued companies like Novell and IBM in 2004 alleging that the open source Linux was infringing on Unix copyrights.
