Quinn Emanuel to Open in Hong Kong

Quinn Emanuel has announced plans to open a Hong Kong office with a partner recruited from Korean law firm Kim & Chang. John Rhie will relocate to Hong Kong to become head of the firm's Asia international arbitration practice, pending approval by the Hong Kong Law Society. The firm said it would also relocate New York partner Carey Ramos.

Chicago's Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal is expected to announce today its acquisition of New York's RubinBaum, adding between 50 and 55 lawyers to Sonnenschein Nath's 80-lawyer New York office. Colliton pleaded guilty to second- and third-degree rape felony charges as well as one count of patronizing a prostitute and agreed to one-year prison sentences on each charge, to be served concurrently. Fired from Cravath when his conduct came to light, Colliton also agreed to register as a sex offender.

Paul Weiss associate dies in fall at Hong Kong airport

A Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison associate has died after a fall from an automobile ramp at Hong Kong International Airport. Jose Tesoro, a corporate associate in Paul Weiss' Washington, D.C., office who was traveling on vacation, fell from a vehicle flyover leading to a taxi stand outside one of the airport's passenger terminals on Dec. 19, and died at the scene. Hong Kong police say the cause of death is under investigation.
