Auditor blames courts for debts

Debts carried by the state's Supreme Court and Superior Courts from fiscal year 2009 to this year revealed major deficiencies in the courts' budget procedures, the state auditor has reported.Last week's report by State Auditor Russell Hinton said that the Supreme Court carried a debt of $182,675 into the current fiscal year, while the Superior Courts carried $373,915.

BRANCH CONNELLY, the law partner of Summerville criminal defense attorney Bobby Lee Cook, died Feb. 26 of a gunshot wound.Connelly's death is being investigated as a suicide, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead.
