Ethics Forum: Questions and Answers on Professional Responsibility

I am a fairly new judicial officer and had an interesting case. I have taken the case under advisement, but there was a hearsay issue, and I wanted to consult with my old evidence professor in law school. Can I do so?

I was speaking to a judge the other day who complained to me that a lawyer introduced himself in the courtroom while still seated and leaning back in his chair. The judge was shocked. How is this happening?

I am a Pennsylvania lawyer, but because of my wife's job change, I live in another state where she works. I still have my Pennsylvania practice. Mostly, I do it by Zoom, telephone, fax and email. If I have to appear in court, I then come back and do so. Is there anything illegal about that?

Ethics Forum: Questions and Answers on Professional Responsibility

I was an expert witness in a professional liability suit against an attorney in the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court. The defendant lawyer was somewhat bizarre during the trial. The jurors had sent notes that they felt threatened by him. The verdict was an odd one finding some fiduciary violations, but no monetary damages. The lawyer then sent the expert witness a threatening letter stating the expert's testimony was outrageous and unconscionable, and the attorney was not going to let this matter go. Is there any ethical violation here?
