Cameron McKenna Opens Temporary Office in Brazil

CMS Cameron McKenna has set up a temporary base in Brazil to advise its energy clients on projects work. Energy partners Ted Rhodes and Ivan Londres have been working there since last fall on behalf of clients in the firm's energy, projects and construction practice. Cameron highlighted Brazil as one of its targeted expansion areas in a new three-year strategy approved in December, but the firm said it would not set up a formal presence without clearing plans with its network of CMS alliance firms.

Dechert has strengthened its New York office with the hire of two partners from Clifford Chance. Finance partners Stuart Strauss and Richard Horowitz will join Dechert's financial services group in Manhattan. The two companies are now reported to owe around $20 billion to banks.

Debevoise Partner Profits Jump to $2.3 Million in 2007

Debevoise & Plimpton has unveiled stellar financial results for 2007, with the New York law firm seeing both partner profits and fees climb by more than 20 percent over the last 12 months. Profits per equity partner at Debevoise rose by 26.5 percent from $1.81 million last year to a new high of $2.29 million. Global revenue, meanwhile, was up by 23.4 percent from $575 million in 2006 to $709.54 million. The results rank Debevoise as one of the strongest performers in the U.S. results season.
