Linklaters and CC lead on $16bn Glencore financings

Linklaters and Clifford Chance (CC) have won roles on two financing deals for Glencore worth nearly $16bn (£10bn) in total. The most recent financing was signed last month (25 April) and saw the mining giant raise $12.5bn (£7.7bn) for Glencore International and Glencore Singapore, through revolving credit facilities with a syndicate of 91 banks. Earlier in April the commodities giant set up a $3.1bn (£1.9bn) liquidity facility, relating to its ongoing merger with rival mining giant Xstrata, backed by a 30-strong banking consortium.

CC faces Olympic task of finding new tenants for Canary Wharf HQ

Clifford Chance (CC) could lose millions of pounds of rental income from its Canary Wharf headquarters later this year, when the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) staff housed in the building for the last two years are expected to move out. LOCOG currently has no set exit date from the building but it will be preparing to wind down following the Games in July and August this year.
