Chicago assistant U.S. attorney leading candidate for new Cook County inspector general

Joseph M. Ferguson, the assistant U.S. attorney in Chicago who took the lead last year in the prosecution of an alleged terrorist fundraiser, is a leading candidate for the newly created position of inspector general for Cook County in the Chicago area. Ferguson is one of two candidates nominated by the state and county bar associations for the post overseeing government conduct for the second most populous county in the United States.
