Houston-based Era Group Inc. has named Crystal Gordon as senior vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer, effective Jan. 1.

Era, a global helicopter operator and longest-serving helicopter transport operator in the United States, announced the hire Tuesday.

Gordon will join the company after nearly eight years as executive VP, GC and corporate secretary at Denver-based air medical provider Air Methods, according to her LinkedIn profile. In that role, she managed all aspects of the company's legal, risk management and compliance functions while also providing oversight of government affairs and litigation matters, according to the statement announcing her hire.

She also advised the company and board of directors through more than $700 million of strategic acquisitions and partnerships, including the establishment of international joint ventures and last year led Air Methods through its $2.5 billion take-private transaction, the statement said.

Gordon could not immediately be reached for comment about her move. It was unclear whom, if anyone, she is succeeding.

A graduate of Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver, Gordon, earlier in her career, served as an associate at Davis Graham & Stubbs in Denver, according to LinkedIn. There, her practice involved representing private and public companies in a variety of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, according to the news statement.

She also provided representation on general corporate matters for public companies, including the preparation and review of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings, securities law compliance and corporate governance matters, it said.

“Crystal's professional experience and skill set are an ideal fit for this important leadership role at Era, and we are thrilled to have her help lead the pursuit of our strategic priorities during this pivotal time in the global helicopter industry,” Era president and CEO Chris Bradshaw said in the statement. “Her technical expertise, energetic drive and commitment to safety complement our management culture, and we will benefit from her extensive M&A experience in the aviation industry.”
