Despite its expansive overhaul of the Florida tort legal landscape, HB 837 did more than just impact tort lawyers in Florida. Section 6 of the bill also created a new Florida Statute s. 768.0427 which greatly leveled the playing field and provided transparency surrounding the amounts paid to medical providers who accept a letter of protection.
