Memery Crystal and Hammonds have won roles on the sale of Vitamin Brands to PepsiCo.

Memery Crystal was instructed for the first time to advise PepsiCo on the acquisition of Vitamin Brands – the owner of the UK vitamin and water brand V Water.

The mandate will be seen as a significant deal for the boutique law firm, which is best known for its highly-regarded Alternative Investment Market practice. Memery Crystal's team was led by corporate partner Lesley Gregory and associate David Walker after being instructed last month.

Hammonds corporate partners Mark Robson and Tim Hewens advised Vitamin Brands' shareholders – which include Unilever Ventures – on the sale, as well as founders Walter Faulstroh and Chris Coleridge, who launched the brand in 2005.

Gregory commented: "We are delighted to have received our first instruction from PepsiCo and to have assisted in the acquisition of such a dynamic UK brand. We look forward to working with PepsiCo in the future as it continues implementing its transformation strategy."

The role marks the second headline deal in recent weeks for Memery Crystal, which earlier this year advised new client Woolworths on a £385m refinancing package.
