Malaysia's troubled former state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has filed a fraud claim in the British Virgin Islands against Hong Kong-based corporate services provider Amicorp Group and its chief executive seeking more than $1 billion in damages, according to a statement by 1MDB.
1MDB is being assisted by Malaysian law firm Lim Chee Wee Partnership. The claimants have also turned to Channel Islands-headquartered litigation firm Baker & Partners as well as South Square Chambers’ Tom Smith KC and 7 King’s Bench Walk’s James Bailey in London for counsel.
