Mexico has officially eliminated its antitrust agency, Cofece, in a move that could make the country out of compliance with obligations under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement.
The Mexican government will consolidate competition powers previously assigned to multiple independent agencies in a move that lawyers worry will subjugate competition matters to the executive branch.
