Sackers hands third term at top of firm to senior partner Pittaway

Pensions specialist firm Sackers & Partners has re-elected Ian Pittaway as senior partner for his third consecutive term in the role after a unanimous vote. The 26-partner firm has also re-elected Mark Greenlees as deputy senior partner. Both are former chairmen of the Association of Pensions Lawyers and are well-known among the pensions industry.

Jones Day City heavyweight quits with senior colleague

Jones Day's London managing partner Russell Carmedy and European head of private equity Michael Nouril are set to leave the firm, with the pair handing in their notice last week (1 April). Corporate partner Carmedy has led Jones Day's UK practice since the firm merged with Gouldens in 2003, when Carmedy was co-managing partner of the UK firm. A highly-regarded corporate lawyer, his practice focuses on cross-border M&A and leveraged private equity and he has advised on deals in sectors including natural resources, healthcare and technology. Nouril, who has also been at Jones Day since the 2003 merger, advises private equity and hedge funds, entrepreneurs and family offices.

DLA Piper is set to see a trio of high-profile partner departures, with its global co-head of litigation, its EMEA head of corporate crime and investigations and its EMEA private equity head all leaving for rival US law firms. Gomez-Acebo mourns deaths of founding partner and real estate head

Gomez-Acebo & Pombo is mourning the loss of two partners, including one of the firm's founders. Co-founder and honorary president Ignacio Gomez-Acebo Duque de Estrada passed away last Sunday at the age of 79. He founded the firm in 1971 alongside Fernando Pombo, and had been a member of the Madrid Bar since 1962.
